Challenger Series Instructions

Listed below are the steps to operating a USSDA Challenger Series event.

1. Print Brackets

* You will need brackets for the event. It's better to do these in advance and have them ready.
* There are many websites and software programs that can do this for you. You should
print round robin and knockout round brackets. The USSDA uses the following website:
printyourbrackets.com

2. Register Players

* Registration Fee is $20.00 per player
* 80 % percent payback

3. Assign Brackets

* You can run Men's, Women, Youth or Mixed Brackets
* Draw players randomly into seeding brackets of 4-5 players.
* Everyone plays a round robin of 2 legs each playerwithin their bracket.

4. Divide Money

   * While players are playing the seeding bracket you should divide the money.
* Total players in each bracket and divide that number by $20.00
( Example: 12 players x $20.00 = $240.00 )
( Winner = 40 % -  $240.00 x .40 = $96.00 )
( 2nd = 20% - $240.00 x .20 = $48.00 )
( Top 4 = 10% - $240.00 x .10 = $24.00 )
( Top 4 = 10% - $240.00 x .10 = $24.00 )
( Event Manager - 10% = $240.00 x .10 = $24.00 )
( USSDA = 10% - $240.00 x .10 = $24.00 )

* If you have any added money from venues or sponsors you add this to the purse as you wish.

5. Seed Knockout Bracket

 * As the seeding brackets finish, count up wins and losses and assign a percentage to each player
( Example: Divide the number of legs won by the number of legs played )
( Example: 7 wins dived by 8 played = ..875 )
( Example : 4 wins divided by 8 games played = .500 )

* Seed the players from top to bottom according to winning percentage,
players with the same percentage are decided by random draw.
* At that point it becomes a long format best 4 of 7, if time and boards permit you
can increase to longer best of 9, 11, 13 etc. as the bracket narrows.
* As players are eliminated ask them to help score matches to
move the eventalong in a timely fashion.

6. Payouts and Paperwork

* Please take pictures of the winners and/or finalists.
* Pay out the money winners and send in a list of all players who
participated and they money they won.
( Please use correct names )
* Each played will earn a point for every players in the bracket snd a poi
nt for every
dollar won. Any added money from sponsors will not earn points.
( Example: 1st place won $96.00 in a 12 players field. 96 + 12 = 108 points earned )
